VIP giveaways can be legitimate brand promotions, but the word VIP is also a favourite tool of scammers because it implies exclusivity and urgency.

Start by verifying the sponsor: a real brand with a website, a history of promotions, and published terms and conditions.

Red flags include entry fees, deposits, banking details, or requirements to recruit others before claiming anything.

Run a five-point check before entering: verifiable sponsor, published rules, free entry, official channels, and a plausible prize.

If you already entered something suspicious, watch for phishing, contact your bank if you shared payment details, and report the account.
